Google/Yahoo Search Engine Optimization
The Sandbox Effect is the most intriguing aspect of search engines.
Several webmasters/SEO professionals are observing this phenomenon worldwide. Several
new/existing websites and webpages are placed in a temporary testing
box, better known as Google Sandbox.
So what is Google Sandbox ?
Google search engine has implemented several search filters like
domain age filter, page rank filters, duplicate content filter etc
etc. The purpose of these filters is to test any new website/ or
webpage to ensure that content in unique, and website is a genuine
one.
What was the need for Google Sandbox ?
Google and other search engines have been facing serious troubles granting ranking to similar websites. There are several billion pages worldwide, and the figure is increasing day by day. Search Engines are specifically working towards squeezing their databases in order to make them more efficient and effective. This was the specific reason why search engines want to test each and every website before granting rankings.
Prior to 2005, several spammy websites used to copy paste content
from existing websites. These websites also used to indulge in
artificial link building in order to score higher rankings overnight.
Search Engines are becoming more strict in terms of delivering search
engine rankings, and this is the reason why they want to test any new
website or webpage before actually granting rankings.
Is there any Yahoo Sandbox ?
Ofcourse yes, Yahoo is simply following footsteps of Google. It has
implemented similar sandbox, but it is more applicable to age of your
domain.
How do I know whether my site is in sandbox or not ?
You can simply try to search for non-competitive keywords on Google,
and Yahoo. If your website was launched 6-8 months back, and is
ranking nowhere, it is an indication of Sandbox.
What are the things to avoid Google or Yahoo SEO sandbox ?
a ) You can purchase an existing domain ( 1-2 years back). However
in the recent times, search engines are giving preferences to new websites as
well.
b) Make sure that you do not copy paste content from other websites.
This could lead to duplicate content penalty, thus pushing your
website into sandbox.
